"Bone Criers Moon" by Kathryn Purdie Review
Book 21: "Bone Criers Moon" by @kathrynpurdie

You guys! I'm not a big fantasy reader, but this was the pick for one of my book clubs this months so I decided to give it a try, and I am really happy I did!
It took a bit to get into (and at the beginning I was so lost) but the last half of the book really got me hooked! However, that was until the very last chapter when I literally said out loud "Wait what? That's how it ended?"
I thought the storyline was exciting and I didn't find it predictable (but that could be because I haven't read much fantasy in the past!). I loved the mythology and logic behind the bone criers graces and the different strengths they provided. There were characters I loved (Ailesse & Sabine) and ones that I absolutely hated (Jules).
The romance piece of the book was super underwhelming. The relationship seemed rushed and that we were missing a lot of big moments, one chapter they hated each other and the next they were saying "I love you".
But, regardless of all the pieces I didn't enjoy, there was still a lot that really got me excited about the bone criers and their world! I can't say I'm going to pick up the second book in the series immediately, but I'm not ruling it out!
Have you read this? What were your thoughts? Do you have any other fantasy recs I should read? ✨
